Audi A6 heading to showrooms

The latest generation Audi A6 could be on sale within the next 18 months as the German automaker takes on Mercedes and BMW.

It is expected Audi will reveal the car at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2017 and the model could take on the Mercedes E-Class and BMW 5 Series.

The A6 will be one of the first cars produced under the management of design chief Marc Lichte and it is expected it will be inspired by the Prologue concept car seen at the Los Angeles Motor Show two years ago.

In a move away from the A8, the new Audi is set to adopt a more aggressive look and will make extensive use of new technology to improve the driver experience.

Expects are predicting Audi will make use of a HMI (Human Machine Interface) to replace the standard buttons and dials, alongside a 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit feature.

Audi will also be launching the new A8 saloon in the summer of 2017, with prices expected to start at around £35,000.
