Audi opens pre-orders on new TT ahead of December launch

Audi's all-new TT – described by the German manufacturer as a unique blend of state-of-the-art sports car and automotive supercomputer – is now available to order in the UK, ahead of its full launch in December.

The third-generation vehicle boasts a range of innovative new features – from an all-digital cockpit to an advanced chassis – while still retaining a look that immediately marks it out as a member of the TT family.

Highlighting the growing demand from motorists for environmentally friendly cars, the new TT is certainly no gas-guzzler. Audi claims it will "set the agenda" when it comes to efficiency, with the 184 PS engine capable of delivering 67 mpg while giving off carbon emissions of just 110 g/km.

As well as impressive green credentials, Audi says the TT is designed squarely with everyday usage in mind – an impractical supercar this certainly isn't.

Measuring 4.18 m in length, the all-new model is almost exactly as long as its predecessor, but has a wider wheelbase of just over 2,500 mm, meaning the overhangs are particularly short.

There's enough room to seat two in the front and two in the back, while the load area has been increased by 13 litres to 305 litres. This space can be further expanded to 712 litres by folding forward the rear seat backrests.

Audi went on to praise the benefits of its Space Frame composite construction. "The remarkable blend of performance and economy offered across the TT range is partly attributable to its advanced Audi Space Frame composite construction, which has been carried over and further evolved for the all-new model," the company explained.

"Blending steel with a high proportion of lightweight aluminium … has helped the 2.0-litre TFSI model to tip the scales at an impressive 1,230 kg – 50 kg less than its equivalent predecessor."
