BMW reveal all-new X1

BMW's X1 has proved very popular since its launch in 2009 and now fans will be able to update to the latest version.

The sports activity vehicle has had a major styling makeover and a new range of engines added to its line-up.

Buyers of the second-generation X1 will be able to choose from one petrol engine and three diesel options – with prices starting at £26,780 for the 1.8 diesel. While the BMW X1 xDrive20i manages 0 to 62 mph in 7.4 seconds, with an average fuel consumption of 44.8 mpg and CO2 emissions of 146g/km.

The new X1 is slightly taller and has standard will come with LED daytime driving lights, while the xLine and M Sport models will offer full-LED headlights for low and high beam.

There will be a total of 13 different paint finishes for the standard models consisting of two non-metallic and 11 metallic options, while the Estoril Blue metallic shade will be offered exclusively on the M Sport model.

Inside, the interior has been redesigned to allow for more passenger and luggage space, while the instrument panels and console controls have been angled to increase driver focus. Sat-nav is standard on all models while some may want to upgrade to BMW's Navigation Plus system, which offers a bigger display and a split-screen function.

BMW's latest X1 will be in showrooms before the end of the year and could prove a rival to Audi Q3 and the Mercedes GLA.
