Company cars seen as “major perk”

Young employees regard access to a company car as a key perk, according to a new survey.

Research commissioned by Skoda examined the opinions of 1,500 motorists and found the majority of those aged between 17 and 24 believe a company car is a good work benefit.

A total of 33 per cent of the younger drivers surveyed also said they would be more willing to accept a job offer if it came with the use of a car – making it more desirable than a medical insurance or mobile phone.

Head of fleet at Skoda UK, Henry Williams, said: “Our research shows company cars are very appealing to workers of all ages, but particularly young people. We see this trend strongly outside of London, where many companies are based at out-of-town locations – making a car essential for the daily commute.”
