Demand for RHD Ford Mustang continues

As the first right-hand drive Ford Mustangs roll off the production line in the US, the total number of orders placed in the UK has risen to almost 2,000.

Despite being a top seller in the US for more than five decades, this is the first time Ford has opted to make a model designed for the RHD market.

It is expected that buyers will start to receive their pre-ordered Mustangs from November this year and the Flatrock Assembly Plant in Michigan has already upped production to cope with the strong demand.

The majority of the UK orders (80 per cent) are for the fastback body style, with 70 per cent opting for the 416PS 5.0-litre V8 engine rather than the more fuel-efficient 317PS 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine.

UK buyers have also showed a greater demand for a six-speed manual gearbox, rather than the six-speed automatic option that is popular in the US.

It would also appear UK Mustang fans are also willing to splash out on the Custom Pack, which includes sat-nav, a Shaker Pro 12-speaker audio system, heated and cooled front seats as well as a rear view camera to help with parking.
