Ford announces pricing for new Focus range

Ford has announced the prices of the six new Focus models set to go on sale in November.

Ford has announced the prices of the six new Focus models set to go on sale in November, confirming the starting cost of the best-selling nameplate will remain unchanged.

Britons on the lookout for the best new car deals will be able to bag one of the Focuses in the Studio trim for £13,995, the same on-the-road price as the current-generation model.

Those who choose the top-of-the-range Titanium and Titanium X trims, meanwhile, will get an even better deal – the cars are both £100 cheaper than equivalent models in the existing lineup.

In its entirety, the new range comprises the Studio, the Style (£16,795), the Zetec (£18,295), the Zetec S (£20,045), the Titanium (£19,795) and the Titanium X (£21,795).

The new Focus retains the same set of innovative technologies that the car has featured since 2011, which include automated parallel parking; the Active City Stop collision avoidance system, which is operational at low speeds; Traffic Sign Recognition, to monitor and record road signs; and the Blind Spot Information System.

On top of these technologies, buyers of the new Focus can for the first time add Perpendicular Parking, which assists drivers in reversing into spaces alongside other stationary vehicles.

The sensors used by this system also facilitate a range of other innovations, including Cross Traffic Alert – which alerts drivers when reversing out of such a space might risk a collision – and Park-Out Assist, which takes control of the car's steering when exiting a parallel parking scenario.

Each new Focus will be offered with SYNC2, Ford's second-generation connectivity interface. This features a high-resolution, eight-inch colour touchscreen that responds to voice controls, allowing drivers to access their navigation system, climate control and audio player hands-free.

Under the bonnet, Ford has also achieved significant improvements in fuel economy. The 120PS, 1.5-litre diesel model in particular offers a ten per cent increase in efficiency on its last-generation counterpart, with carbon emissions reduced from 109 to 98 g/km.
