Kia Rio gets new look for 2015

The popular Kia Rio has had a facelift for the new year as it continues to attract buyers looking for so-called supermini models.

The Kia has definitely got European styling and the 2015 model will feature updated front and rear bumpers, with a revised range of 16 and 17-inch alloy wheel options.

Buyers will also be able to choose from a new shade for the model, with Kia predicting the Urban Blue will prove popular with those hoping to stand out.

Inside the instrument panel remains relatively untouched, although the general feel of the trim has been improved to add a more high-quality appearance.

There will be five different versions of the Rio on sale, with various options including heated door mirrors, reversing camera and leather seats.

In terms of engines, the line-up remains relatively the same as before with four options – two petrol and two diesel.

Those looking for the best economy should consider the 1.1-litre diesel version, which comes with stop-start technology as standard. The basic 1 model, without air conditioning fitted, claims to offer around 88.3 mpg and output only 86g/km of CO2.

Prices have yet to be confirmed by Kia for the new Rio, but it is likely to be similar to the retiring model, starting at £12,000.

It is expected the Kia Rio will face competition from the growing number of superminis on the market, especially as the Hyundai i20, Mazda2 and Skoda Fabia have also been revamped for 2015.
