Kia’s 7-year warranty turns 7

There are many reasons to opt for a new Kia cee'd deal, but the manufacturer's famous seven-year warranty is always going to be near the top of the list.

It may be surprising to learn this revolutionary provision is now seven-years-old itself.

The warranty was introduced to its European designed and manufactured cee’d in February 2007 and although that initial protection may now be starting to expire, Kia believes it continues to lead the race with its clear, simple and transparent warranty – one that now protects every new Kia sold in the UK for either seven years or 100,000 miles.

It was in 2010 when Kia extended the seven-year warranty to cover its entire range and in total almost 290,000 cars have now been bought in the UK, including more than 82,000 of the popular cee’d model.

Throughout its seven-year history, the seven-year warranty has continued to pick up awards from the motoring industry and press, but the manufacturer points out that customers' views are the most important and they continue to vote with their wallets and trust.

President and chief executive of Kia Motors Limited Paul Philpott said: "When we announced the warranty on cee’ds built at our new factory in Slovakia there were many cynics and doubters who claimed it would be a short-term measure. Well, it is still here and remains the most easily understood and extensive warranty in the new car business.

"It is transferable from owner to owner and only requires regular servicing according to our schedule and the use of genuine Kia parts."

He explained that even before it was launched, the seven-year warranty was a statement of confidence in the design and build quality of Kia cars and now it is great to see so many drivers are benefitting from it.

At the Zilina factory in Slovenia where the warranty was first introduced, quality is guaranteed by 399 inspectors painstakingly checking every vehicle to come off the 12km production line.
