Land Rover launch soft top SUV

Land Rover has confirmed the release of a soft top Range Rover in 2016.

The Range Rover Evoque Convertible will be available from spring 2016 and is expected to prove popular with buyers wanting off-road capability as well as the option to put the roof down in nice weather.

It takes 18 seconds for the fabric hood to be lowered and it can be raised within 21 seconds at speeds up to 30 mph.

Gerry McGovern, Land Rover design director and chief creative officer, commented: "Range Rover Evoque Convertible is a vehicle for all seasons. Its uniquely distinctive design and world-class engineering adds another dimension to the Range Rover family, further enhancing its desirability and appeal."

There will be a choice of a number of engines – both petrol and diesel. In addition, the Range Rover will be fitted with the same high-tech options as the standard Range Rover, with Terrain Response system, Wade Sensing and All-Terrain Progress Control.

In addition, the convertible will be one of the first Land Rovers to feature the next-generation infotainment system that boasts a 10.2-inch touchscreen. The InControl Touch Pro is designed to integrate seamlessly with smartphones and has 3G capability.

Prices for the entry level Range Rover Evoque Convertible will start at around £47,500.
