Mazda sees huge fleet success with SKYACTIV

Mazda models are not only proving to be popular with members of the public who are looking for new car deals, but fleet buyers can't get enough of the Japanese manufacturer either.

It seems that a good car is a good deal whether you are looking to use it for personal or business use.

According to Mazda, its fleet sales shot up by a rather impressive 84 per cent in the first nine months (the April to December period) of its 2013/14 financial year. What makes this stat even more remarkable is that the total fleet car market expanded by just seven per cent during the same period.

With the launch of the new Mazda3, the company predicts that fleet buyers will have even more reason to choose the company famous for its new SKYACTIV Technology, which has been a big part of the success of the CX-5 and Mazda6.

Mazda's head of fleet Steve Tomlinson said the design, creation and implementation of SKYACTIV technology has made Mazda a serious player in the fleet industry.

He stated: "The Mazda6 has become the car of choice in the fleet sector and we anticipate demand to further increase given the autumn introduction of a 2.2-litre SKYACTIV-D 150ps engine with emissions of just 104g/km. This pushes the model down a tax band thus delivering greater financial savings to businesses and drivers alike alongside improved fuel economy.

With corporate sales of the Mazda6
being well supported by high demand for the CX-5 and the excitement around the all-new Mazda3, the next 12 months could be equally as impressive for the company's fleet division, added Mr Tomlinson.

Mazda believes that the credentials of a good fleet are not too dissimilar to that of any good vehicle – low carbon dioxide emissions, excellent mpgs, a pleasing aesthetic and well-priced models.
