New Qashqai could rival Audi Q3

Nissan is planning a new Qashqai that could prove a rival to the Audi Q3.

Based on the automaker's Premium Concept car that was revealed at March’s Geneva Motor Show, the top of the range crossover could challenge the market share held by luxury SUVs such as the Audi Q3 and the BMW X1.

A number of features from the concept could make it into production, including carbonfibre wheel arches and
anew grille design.

“The concept was designed to be feasible for production,” said Darryl Scriven, design manager for the Qashqai Premium Concept.

“Now we are working and adapting the authentic materials, like carbon-fibre, nappa leather and special paint, for a production future.”

It is expected the new model could be priced from £30,000 and may go into production around 2017/2018.
