Nissan manufacturing ‘new and improved’ Juke

The new Nissan Juke is now on sale in the UK, having been manufactured at the brand’s Sunderland plant.

Nissan has been extremely busy of late, manufacturing a new and improved model of its popular Juke vehicle.

The car is currently on sale in the UK, with it set to be released across the rest of Europe over the coming few weeks.

Production for the European market is taking place at Nissan's Sunderland plant, after the brand invested £20 million into the project, following the success of its previous Juke models, with more than 540,000 being sold in Britain since 2010.

The significant injection of cash has had a huge impact on the manufacturing of the new Juke, enabling more advanced technologies to be used in the production process and a greater level of vehicle personalisation to take place.

These changes include a new look for both the front and back of the car, a downsized engine – but one that promises to offer improved performance, with a DIG-T turbocharge – and several exciting add-ons, including an innovative audio system.

In addition, extras exclusive to Nissan will be included, such as the brand's specialist safety shield and dynamic control system, along with an open-air panoramic glass roof.

The space available for luggage has increased in size by 40 per cent too, while the vehicle is on the market in a range of colours and themes to suit every motorist's tastes.

Vice-president for manufacturing in the UK at Nissan Kevin Fitzpatrick commented: "This significantly revised new Juke is another example of how we never stand still at Nissan, so we are looking for experienced maintenance professionals who can help us build on our recent achievements and support the efficient running of the plant."

In the past year, Nissan has also commenced production on new models of its LEAF, Note and Qashqai cars at the Sunderland plant, with 38,000 jobs in the industry being supported during the process.

Mr Fitzpatrick added: "The launch of the new Juke further strengthens Nissan's command of the crossover market."

Nissan is now launching a recruitment drive, to take on 50 new experienced technicians.
