Skoda reports strong UK sales

Skoda registered a total of 80,372 new cars last year as the automaker reported a strong 2016.

Sales levels were up by 7.6 per cent compared to the previous 12 months, with Skoda now accounting for 2.98 per cent of the UK market.

The Octavia remained Skoda’s top seller with a total of 23,068 registrations – up two per cent on 2015, while the Superb also tempted more buyers with total registrations increasing by 73.2 per cent.

Buyers in 2016 also showed strong support for high performance models, with more than 20 per cent of the Octavia models sold bearing the VRS badge.

Duncan Movassaghi, director of Skoda UK, said: “These figures demonstrate yet again the phenomenal momentum Skoda is enjoying in the UK. Interest in Skoda cars is at a record-high.

“Customers have long recognised Skoda as a brand that delivers great quality at outstanding value for money.
Now, with strong design featured on our new models, we are attracting more new customers that ever before.”
