Suzuki plans new compact crossover

Suzuki is set to launch a new compact crossover in the UK in 2017.

It is expected the Suzuki Ignis will replace the Suzuki Jimney and benefit from the strong demand for small SUVs, as well as proving an alternative to the successful Nissan Juke and Fiat Panda.

The car is expected to be heavily influenced by the iM-4 concept vehicle revealed by Suzuki at last year's Geneva Motor Show.

Buyers will likely be able to choose between the 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol engine and 1.0-litre turbocharged boosterjet petrol. Suzuki could also take the step to introduce a new hybrid or part-hybrid option.

An exact release date or price has yet to be confirmed by Suzuki, but it is expected to be under £10,000 for the base model.
