Tesla confirms electric vehicle

Tesla is set to release an all-electric pick-up as it capitalises on the demand for eco-friendly vehicles.

The automaker's chief executive officer Elon Musk confirmed its long-term plans to introduce a fully-electric truck to its line-up, as well as a more compact SUV model.

According to Musk, Tesla are also planning to embrace solar charging technology and the use of autonomous vehicles.

It is expected the new Tesla pick-up will be based on the Model X SUV and could offer an electric range of around 220 miles before needing to be recharged.
