Vauxhall plans new SUV

Vauxhall is planning a new SUV that will replace the Antara and challenge the popular Ford Edge.

Set to be released in 2018, the crossover will extend Vauxhall’s SUV range as the market continues to expand.

The automaker recently revealed its new X range of crossovers, that will start with the Mokka C, but it is expected a Vauxhall Insignia will be released within the next two years.

Opel/Vauxhall boss Karl-Thomas Neumann said: "One of our major weaknesses is that we don't have a great SUV portfolio. We have one SUV, the Mokka, and it's very successful, so we want more."

He added: "A larger SUV is something we're keen to do.”

Mary Barra, chief executive officer of General Motors, confirmed Opel/Vauxhall is set to deliver a total of 27 new models and 17 engines by 2020.
