Volvo XC90 named as top 4×4

The Volvo XC90 has been recognised as the top 4×4 in the latest Diesel Car Magazine awards.

Volvo's latest model will go on sale in the UK in June and has been praised for its design, as well as its advanced driving technology.

Prices start from £45,750 and it is available with a 225hp, four-cylinder D5 AWD diesel engine with CO2 emissions of around 149g per km and fuel economy of 49.6mpg.

Volvo has also produced a 320hp petrol engine option and a T8 Twin Engine variant that combines a petrol engine with an electric motor for lower fuel economy.

Inside the XC90 boasts a large cabin, with a small number of controls to give it a sleek look. The main focus is the touchscreen control panel that provides driver access to the main functions, as well as entertainment and navigation.

Nick Connor, managing director of Volvo Car UK, said: "The XC90 is a true landmark for Volvo – indeed it represents the dawn of a new era for our brand in this country, so I’m absolutely delighted to receive this award.

"It's a car we're really proud of, and which has generated a lot of interest – and over 1,000 customer orders – even before it has officially arrived at UK dealers. It's a great start to an exciting future for Volvo in the UK."
