VW unveil powerful Tiguan

VW has confirmed its new powerful Tiguan option is now ready to order.

Volkswagen has added a 240 PS 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel unit to its Tiguan line-up and buyers will be able to opt between the SEL or the sporty R-Line trim.

The bi-turbo 240 PS engine will be similar to the block already used in the Volkswagen Passat and Passat Alltrack, and has a high-performance cylinder head and two-stage turbo charger.

4MOTION four-wheel drive system will also feature on the new model, which will be capable of achieving 142 mph and the 2.0 BiTDI-equipped Tiguan will offer 0 to 62 mph in 6.5 seconds.

The SEL luxury trim includes an eight-inch colour screen offering the Discover Navigation infotainment and satellite navigation system, as well as the state-of-the-art Active Info Display, which makes use of a 12.3-inch high-resolution TFT screen to replace conventional analogue instruments.

Those opting for the R-Line will benefit from sportier detailing including a roof spoiler and a front air intake, as well as 20-inch alloys.
