Which? gives thumbs up to Ford Fiesta Zetec S Red Edition

Consumer watchdog Which? suggests the Ford Fiesta Zetec S Red Edition beats its rivals hands down

Consumer watchdog Which? has awarded the new Ford Fiesta Zetec S Red Edition four out of a possible five stars and states that, in terms of performance, it beats its rivals hands down.

Road test editor Will Nightingale suggests the car that comes equipped with a 138bhp engine,
and
which will take you from zero to 62mph in nine seconds, is well worth a look.

He concludes that the latest release from the motoring giant is "brilliant to drive [and is] more fun and agile than both a Mini Cooper and a Suzuki Swift Sport, thanks to its wonderfully balanced chassis and superb steering".

In terms of comfort, he suggests it beats both its closest rivals, and is only let down in terms of price.

You will need to part with £16,000 for the Red Edition, which makes it approximately £2,000 more than the Swift and £700 dearer than the Cooper. Mr Nightingale states that, in his opinion, the car is too expensive.

Which? suggests that if you're going to spend that amount of cash, you may as well go all out and get the ST version, which will cost you an additional £1,250.

Alternatively, the watchdog hints that the 1.0 125 Titanium may be worth a look, as it is close to the Red Edition in terms of performance but has the added advantage of much lower running costs.

In addition, Mr Nightingale
makes the point
that the car is cheaper for younger drivers to insure, which is surely a big bonus if you've just passed your test and are looking for a budget-friendly motor.

Journalist Matt Prior from Autocar
states
that the car's 1.0-litre engine has more horsepower per litre than the mighty Bugatti Veyron. So, if you go ahead and buy this car and are trying to persuade your friends to follow suit, it may well be worth remembering that fact.
