A-Class leads Mercedes-Benz sales

Mercedes-Benz remained the UK’s top luxury brand in 2017.

Figures show the automaker sold 179,000 units – accounting for a seven per cent market share.

The A-Class led the way for the company with 43,000 sales recorded over the past 12 months, while sales of Mercedes-AMG models rose by 38 per cent.

“We’re pleased to have recorded six per cent growth in a particularly challenging market, registering 179,000 new cars and achieving a market share of seven per cent,” said Gary Savage, managing director of Mercedes-Benz Cars UK.

“We have achieved this thanks to the professionalism, dedication and hard work of our retailer network – a network that we regard as the best in the UK.”

Mercedes-Benz also saw a strong increase its is SUV sales, which rose by 16 per cent to total 36,000. Other models, such as the E-Class and S-Class remained consistent, while G-Class sales expanded by more than 30 per cent.
