Brits more satisfied with their new cars than ever before

Brits are happier with their new cars than ever before, according to Driver Power – the UK’s biggest car satisfaction survey.

Overall vehicle satisfaction is up in 2018’s survey, with an average score of 90.94 per cent, rising from 89.83 per cent in 2017.

That said, new car owners are encountering more problems with their cars, as almost one in six (14.36 per cent) reported an issue, compared to 12.15 per cent in 2017.

Peugeot’s 3008 [pictured] was found to be the car that makes its owners happiest, achieving a record score of 93.88 per cent satisfaction – previously 93.42 per cent, set by the Skoda Superb in 2017.

The car made a huge impression when it was reinvented from a frumpy people carrier into a stylish mid-size SUV in 2017. It has since gone on to win more than 38 awards globally.

Martin Saarinen, consumer editor at Auto Express, which conducts the Driver Power survey, said: “The results from this year’s survey show an improvement in driver satisfaction in every single category, as well as a rise in overall satisfaction.

“The last 12 months have seen some exceptional cars launched, so it’s no surprise to see Brits happy with their new motors. There’s still work to be done, though, as new car owners continue to tell us that their motors aren’t always trouble-free.”
