Celebrations in Coventry as Citroen turns 100

Anyone who has been looking at new Citroen deals but has also wanted a closer look at some of the company's previous vehicles will be in luck if they happen to be in Coventry this summer.

The iconic brand is turning 100 this year and, to mark the centenary, a selection of models will be on show at the Power Maxed MotoFest Coventry 2019 event on June 1st and 2nd.

More than 1,000 vehicles are expected to be on display, which is sure to be a treat for petrolheads as well as history buffs keen to see how they have changed over the years.

Citroen is also teaming up with a fan-organised centenary event at nearby Coombe Park, which will culminate in an incredible 1,000-car parade to MotoFest on the Sunday.

Following this weekend of automotive nostalgia, Citroen will then put a selection of its cars on display to the public in Coventry city centre from the Transport Museum, across the Cathedral's grounds and up to the university precincts.

Plenty of models from the current line-up will be there – including the flagship C5 Aircross SUV – so it would create the perfect opportunity to go for a good look for anyone who had been thinking of buying.

Citroen's UK managing director Karl Howkins said: "Celebrating our centenary here in Coventry is the perfect way to rejoice in our rich history and look to the exciting future ahead. We are equally happy to be assisting the many enthusiasts who are putting on the Citroen Centenary Event, looking after our heritage and promoting links between owners and the brand."

MotoFest runs every year and aims to celebrate all aspects of motoring with a blend of competitive motorsports, demonstrations, displays and entertainment.

Meanwhile, Citroen has remained at the heart of the automotive market since asserting itself back in 2019. Last year, it sold more than a million vehicles in over 80 countries, with the C3 proving to be the most popular model.
