Footballers’ favourite cars revealed – and the list might surprise you

Want to know what cars footballers buy? You’re in luck!

We always love to see how the other half live, and this week, we've been given a sneak peek into the spending habits of those most glamorous of creatures: premiership footballers.

JBR Capital, a high-end financier and apparently none-too-discreet provider of loans for top-of-the-range vehicles, has published a list of the cars that Premier League players most often purchase on finance.

And if you're thinking that showy sports cars probably top it, then you'd be mistaken. Actually, we were surprised to see what the stars have been splashing out on.

Topping the list was the Range Rover Sport SVR, although it was followed by the slightly more showy Bentley Continental GT.

Next was the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, as owned by England player Raheem Sterling, just beating the Audi RS 6 Avant.

Ferrari did make it into the top ten, with the 488 Spider taking fifth position. It's possible that Sergio Aguero might be looking for new car deals on one of these soon, after being snapped driving one as a rental in LA last November.

Next came the Lamborghini Huracan Spyder, followed by the Range Rover Autobiography. The latter is known to be hugely popular with footballers, with Michael Carrick, Marcus Rashford, Phil Jones and Harry Kane all known to have one in their garage at home.

The list was finished off with the Maserati GranCabrio (as owned by Cristiano Ronaldo), the Bentley Bentayga Onyx (you'll find Jesse Lingard behind the wheel of one of these) and the Ford Mustang Fastback.

JBR Capital said it was interesting to see footballers are now mostly opting for comfort and practicality from their vehicles, even if they do enjoy the odd supercar.

"It's not surprising that footballers haven't greatly changed their taste in cars over the last few years, but it is interesting that in terms of marques, Jeep, Porsche and McLaren have been replaced in the top 10 by Audi, Maserati and Ford," added spokesperson Darren Selig.

Earlier this month, the Sun gleefully revealed that Paul Pogba has a car collection worth an astonishing £1.6 million, which includes brands like Rolls-Royce, Audi and Lamborghini.

As for the rest of us – well, we can dream, can't we? And there are probably some new car offers on Fords and Vauxhalls…
