Hyundai i30 N Line injects hot hatch styling without the extra outlay

Hyundai has laid out pricing and specification for its new i30 N Line, which incorporates the aggressive sporty looks of the i30 N hot hatch.

Starting from £21,255 OTR, the i30 N Line boasts some of the performance exterior styling of the i30 N, such as the front and rear bumpers with N Line specific silver lower accents and N Line badging on the front wings.

It also comes with a twin exhaust, LED rear lamps and 18-inch fastback design alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot PS4 tyres, while inside, there are the same sports seats and leather steering wheel from the i30 N and N Line gear lever.

A high level of safety equipment comes as standard too, with the spec list featuring lane departure warning system, lane keep assist, autonomous emergency braking and hill start assist control.

In terms of tech, every N Line benefits from a centre console display with an eight-inch touchscreen, DAB, smart device integration and support for Apple Carplay and Android Auto.

Beneath the surface, there have been some mechanical changes with revisions to the suspension, brakes and engine response to enhance the driving experience over the standard i30 models.

Under the bonnet is a 1.4-litre T-GDi engine with 137bhp, linked to a six-speed manual gearbox, although a seven-speed DCT automatic is available too.

Tony Whitehorn, president of Hyundai Motor UK, said “The i30 N has had a tremendous reception from both automotive media and our customers since its launch early this year but we understand many customers ‘want the show but don’t need the go.’

“N Line will give customers that balance of looks and performance.”
