Maserati Unveils New Ghibli Hybrid

Maserati has always been known as one of the premier car manufacturers, famed for both their quality and luxury. That’s why, whenever a new Maserati is announced, it can throw the car lovers of the world into a bit of a frenzy.

That has just happened once again as Maserati revealed a new Ghibli Hybrid earlier this month.

The new Maserati Ghibli Hybrid is set to replace the V6 diesel engine and utilises a combination of a turbo 2.0 litre four cylinder engine coupled with a 48V mild-hybrid electric engine for a total of 325bhp and 332lb ft of torque. This helps the Ghibli Hybrid to continue the heritage of power and luxury that Maserati holds, whilst also being far more eco-friendly.

The 2.0 litre engine has been taken and modified from Alfa Romeo models, adding to the prestige of the vehicle. It features a new ECU as well as modifications and improvements to produce higher levels of torque. This, when coupled with the 48V electric motor that recharges when breaking, gives you a great hatchback for both short city drives and long trips through the countryside or down the motorway.

The 48V electric motor is also considerably lighter in weight than a more common plug-in hybrid engine, meaning that the Ghibli Hybrid is able to accelerate faster, giving you a much more enjoyable ride than you would normally expect from an electric vehicle. This decision was made in order to ensure that the Ghibli Hybrid is able to provide a high level of performance.

According to Maserati’s electrification boss, Corrado Nizzola, they “investigated it, but to add value, you need a 50km [31-mile] range. But that means a big battery in the boot and a weight distribution issue. On engine power you have more weight and on EV mode less power. For Maserati, the 48V system is the best solution.”

From a technical point of view, it is clear that the Maserati Ghibli Hybrid is a work of excellence. But Maserati have also tweaked the styling of the vehicle to add an even higher sense of style than you have already come to know them for. All of this comes together to create an incredibly desirable hybrid vehicle.

Of course, if it is important to note that the price point of the Maserati Ghibli Hybrid will be on point with your expectations. Therefore, buying one of the Ghibli Hybrid models outright is likely going to be a rather costly investment. However, due to the build quality, technical specifications and style of the car, it is understandably a very desirable vehicle.

With that in mind, we would recommend you start saving for a deposit and researching any lease deals you can for the vehicle. That way, you would be able to get your hands on one of these beasts in a far more affordable manner.
