New Ford Focus unveiled, coming this September

Ford has revealed the all-new fifth-generation Focus, ahead of its arrival on UK roads this September.

The hugely popular hatchback is a resident fixture in Britain’s monthly top-ten best-selling models and Ford hopes to keep it that way by gifting the Golf rival with sharper styling, a smoother ride, improved fuel efficiency and even more gadgets than before.

Available to order right now with prices starting from just under £18k, the new Focus will offer best-in-class cabin space, driving dynamics and aerodynamics, while fuel consumption has been cut by 12 per cent
on average, Ford says.

In light of the ongoing trend for SUVs and increased demand for so-called ‘softroaders’, Ford will offer an ‘Active’ variant, which boasts extra body cladding and a ride height raised by 30mm.

Petrol engine options will include 1.5-litre and single-litre units, while diesel drivers can opt for the new 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre EcoBlue fuel-efficient oilburners, which can be linked to an intelligent eight-speed automatic transmission that adapts shift patterns to driving style.

Ford hasn’t confirmed any figures relating to fuel economy or performance so keep an eye out for those closer to its launch later this year.
