Vauxhall sold 4,484 cars during the latest plate period, with the Vauxhall Corsa being the second-best-selling model in the country.
Vauxhall was the biggest-selling motor manufacturer in Scotland last month, according to new figures from the Scottish Motor Trade Association.
The brand sold 4,484 cars during the crucial 19-plate period, meaning it accounted for 12.5 per cent of the market. The amount of Vauxhall lease deals has grown exponentially, which contributed to this impressive figure.
In terms of the country’s favourite model, the accolade went to the Vauxhall Corsa with sales of 1,690 bumping it up to best-selling status. The Corsa has continued to be a sales success for the brand for the best part of 20 years, with 13,244 units sold across the entire UK last month alone. The success of the Vauxhall Corsa put it only just behind the Ford Fiesta, which sold 14,676 units in the race to the top.
Vauxhall’s group managing director Stephen Norman said: “We are delighted to be Scotland’s best-selling car manufacturer, in March and for the last 11 years – long may it continue.”
Vauxhall may be hoping for renewed interest in Corsa following the forthcoming launch of its next generation of vehicles, which has the potential to reverse the leaderboard in the months to come. The new Corsa family will feature a battery-electric version, a plug-in hybrid and the successor to the Vivaro.
In addition to the Corsa sub-range, Vauxhall is readying brand new additions to its main lineup for 2020. This includes the Vauxhall Grandland X PHEV, which will put its flagship compact crossover SUV into the plug-in hybrid world.
