Volvo performs well in UK

Volvo has seen its market share increase by five per cent over the past 12 months.

The automaker revealed its second-highest annual sales figures for 25 years as the XC60 continued to perform well in the UK.

A total of 571,577 units were sold internationally by Volvo in 2017, with 46,139 cars being sold in the UK. This strong performance meant the automaker increased its UK market share as its popularity continues to improve.

The XC60 was the best-selling model with a total of being 16,302 sold, followed by the V40 and the XC90.

Jon Wakefield, managing director of Volvo Car UK, said: “Selling more than 46,000 new cars and growing our UK market share is a tremendous result, especially considering the current market conditions.

“It’s a testament to the desirability and quality of our cars, and a result of all the hard work of everyone at Volvo Car UK and the entire retailer network.”

He added the company’s recently launched XC40 compact SUV and plans for more new models during 2018 is likely to continue the trend for Volvo performing well in the UK.
