Whether you are a one-man-band painter and decorator looking for a small van to get you from job to job or your courier business requires a fleet of reliable large vans, Ford has a van model to suit you. The two most significant and impressive Ford models that are seen across the UK are the Ford Courier van and the Ford Connect Courier.

As a part of the Ford European product revolution, changes to the Connect and Courier van lineup have made these vans crucial members of the latest four-model Transit family. With Ford now being Europe’s No. 1-selling commercial vehicle brand, both the Transit Connect and Transit Courier are the best-selling commercial vehicles in their respective segments.

But which of these two commercial van superstars is best suited for you and your business? With both featuring stylish new designs, improved powertrains that increase fuel efficiency and a collection of advanced new driver assistance technologies, how can you tell them apart and what benefits does each bring? Read on to learn the difference between the Ford Connect Courier and the Ford Courier van.

Ford Courier Van

The Ford Transit Connect Courier is the smallest member of the successful Ford’s Transit family and is small enough for tricky city driving and getting into tight spaces with ease. This commercial van sits on the same mechanical parts as the Fiesta Van, but it offers a much higher payload.

The new Courier model brings a refreshed and modernised front-end appearance that incorporates a reshaped grille and a revised design for the lower fascia. The Ford Connect Courier has received Fiesta-inspired faces which truly utilise Ford’s latest design language. Step inside and the cabin feels open and comfortable. The interior features a redesigned centre console including a new, larger six-inch colour touchscreen with Ford’s SYNC 3 infotainment system which is positioned closer to the driver for improved visibility and ease of use.

Under the hood, the updated engine range meets the latest Euro 6.2 emissions standards.  The updated powertrain line-up offers drivers the choice of fuel-efficient 1.5-litre TDCi diesel and 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engines. The diesel Transit Courier produces either 74 or 99bhp, delivering a claimed 65.6mpg and the petrol EcoBoost engine delivers 53.2mpg.

All Ford Courier vehicles feature Ford’s all-new six-speed manual transmission in place of the outgoing model’s five-speed gearbox. For the ultimate in low running costs, a new fuel-efficiency package is offered as standard on diesel models. To achieve this, Ford has integrated optimised aerodynamics with an Active Grille Shutter to improve warm-up times and reduce aero drag.

The Ford Courier van offers urban van operators a payload capacity ranging from 500-590 kg, and load volumes up to 2.4 cubic metres. The drivers of this Transit can pick through a range of van and kombi body styles such as a new Limited variant, providing customers with an alternative to the dynamic Sport model at the top of the range.

“We’ve given our two smaller Transits a complete overhaul that makes them even more affordable to run, more stylish to look at, and ready to tackle every job our customers throw at them.”
