{"id":1339,"date":"2011-08-02T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2011-08-01T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dev.c2b-blog.builtbybrave.com\/new-model-releases\/taking-care-of-a-car-pays-off-in-the-long-run_800674184\/"},"modified":"2022-03-28T11:05:08","modified_gmt":"2022-03-28T10:05:08","slug":"taking-care-of-a-car-pays-off-in-the-long-run_800674184","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cars2buy.co.uk\/news\/new-model-releases\/taking-care-of-a-car-pays-off-in-the-long-run_800674184\/","title":{"rendered":"Taking care of a car pays off in the long run"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Motorists currently looking for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cars2buy.co.uk\/new-cars\/Mazda\/\">new Mazda deals<\/a> have been encouraged to take good care of their vehicle after they have purchased it, which includes washing it regularly.<\/p>\n<p>As well as ensuring your vehicle looks good on the road, regular maintenance and servicing will also mean drivers secure a higher resale value when it comes to selling on their car.<\/p>\n<p>Waynne Smith, senior partner at TorqueCars.com, said that motorists who clean their vehicles regularly can secure a resale value 20 per cent higher than cars covered in grime and dirt.<\/p>\n<p>If a car is not cleaned regularly, dirt can build up on the bodywork, which will corrode the paint, so it is well worth getting out the bucket and sponge on a weekend and giving the motor a once over &ndash; particularly now that the summer is here.<\/p>\n<p>Using synthetic waxes and sealants provides a protective coating for the paint, but it is important to pick the correct product for your vehicle and paint type.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Smith explained that sealants and synthetic waxes are &quot;easy to apply, last a long time and do not require stripping each time they are applied&quot;.<\/p>\n<p>However, he warned motorists to be careful when washing and polishing their car as, every time a car is polished, a small layer of paint is removed in order to get rid of minor scratches.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Polishing should only be done when the paintwork has become dull and never more frequently than every two years or so,&quot; he explained.<\/p>\n<p>Another problem facing car owners is birdlime, which, if left on the bodywork of a vehicle, can eat into the paint.<\/p>\n<p>A recent survey by Kwik Fit found that 14 per cent of motorists put off doing jobs involving their cars to another day.<\/p>\n<p>Posted by Perry Murray<\/p>\n<p>Looking for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cars2buy.co.uk\/new-cars\/Mazda\/\">Mazda deals<\/a>?
