Volkswagen is proving that it is up for a challenge in order to raise money for charity and prove the mettle of its vehicles.<\/p>\n
The 'Doing The 92 in 92' challenge will see the new Volkswagen Transporter panel van visit all 92 football league clubs in 92 hours, quite a test as the journey will cover over 2,200 miles.<\/p>\n
It hopes to raise money for national charity Kidney Research UK.<\/p>\n
The idea was proposed by Tim Spencer from Dorset who was diagnosed with chronic kidney failure four years ago and he has seen the challenge go from strength to strength.<\/p>\n
As a result of the fundraiser, Volkswagen hopes to donate £25,000 to the charity.<\/p>\n
Due to his poor health, Tim will be doing the challenge with a group of his friends and they will be setting off from Plymouth Argyle's Home Park stadium on Wednesday April 18th before finishing at AFC Bournemouth's Dean Court on Saturday April 21st.<\/p>\n
Joe Chettleburgh, director of community giving at Kidney Research UK, said: "With three million people in the UK at risk of kidney disease, we're extremely grateful to Tim for the lengths to which he is going to raise money for Kidney Research UK.<\/p>\n
He added that the charity was also grateful to Volkswagen for supplying such a high quality van to help Tim on the tough challenge and tiring journey.<\/p>\n
The Volkswagen Transporter panel van was chosen as it is the ideal vehicle to work long hours, covering long distances.<\/p>\n
Alex Smith, Director of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles added: "We are delighted to help this project, and as the Transporter is one of the most durable and comfortable vans to drive every day, we know Tim has the perfect vehicle for such a challenge."<\/p>\n
