Ford has been recognised for its safety achievements with regard to its new B-Max model.<\/p>\n

The car received the highest-possible protection rating from Euro NCAP, becoming the third Ford motor – following the Ranger pick-up and the Focus – to be handed five stars from the independent crash test authority since it toughened up its assessment protocols this year.<\/p>\n

For overall protection, the compact multi-activity vehicle received 83 per cent, while scoring 84 per cent for child safety and 93 per cent for adult protection.<\/p>\n

Those searching for the latest Ford deals<\/a> may therefore wish to take note of a vehicle that places such a high emphasis on driver and passenger safety.<\/p>\n

During the development of the motor, the design was subjected to more than 5,000 computer-simulated crash tests, 40 complete collisions and an extra 100 assessments – which saw the car fired into a barrier after being mounted on a sled.<\/p>\n

Included in the vehicle's makeup is Ford's Active City Stop system, which was designed to prevent drivers from being involved in collisions with other cars travelling at low speed or sitting stationary in traffic.<\/p>\n

In addition, the B-Max boasts a body made up of 58 per cent high strength and ultra-high strength steels, which are called crash-catchers.<\/p>\n

These metals serve to lock in place the Ford Easy Access Door System in the event of a crash, while the model also includes seven airbags and the front-end has been developed with pedestrian protection in mind.<\/p>\n

European safety manager at Ford Tom Overington noted: "Safety is a fundamental Ford value and we are delighted to achieve the maximum five-star rating from Euro NCAP.<\/p>\n

"The team has worked very hard on making sure B-Max meets the safety standards our customers expect from every Ford vehicle."<\/p>\n

Other features of the multi-activity vehicle include the carmaker's voice-activated, in-car connectivity system SYNC, which has been developed to provide assistance to any occupants in the motor who are involved in a road accident.<\/p>\n
