The Ford Fiesta has been named as the biggest selling small car in Europe of 2012.<\/p>\n

Automotive data intelligence provider Jato Dynamics revealed 306,405 Fiestas were sold in 30 European markets last year, with almost 110,000 models purchased in the UK.<\/p>\n

As a result, the car has cemented its position as the nation's most popular motor – an accolade it has held since 2009 – and suggests an increasing number of people will continue looking for the latest and best Ford Fiesta deals<\/a> in 2013 and beyond.<\/p>\n

The figures revealed a Fiesta was bought every two minutes throughout last year, which helped Ford offload a total of 953,174 vehicles in the 30 European markets analysed by Jato.<\/p>\n

These statistics come shortly after the carmaker revealed it sold more than 1.4 million motors last year across the 51 European markets in which it operates.<\/p>\n

Roelant de Waard, vice-president for marketing, sales and service at Ford of Europe, said: "The Fiesta had a fantastic 2012 in the UK, Europe and across the world."<\/p>\n

Mr de Waard added: "This iconic car has come to define what customers desire from a small car – style, quality, efficiency and great technology."<\/p>\n

The Fiesta has been named the best-selling small car in Europe for three of the past four years, with the 1.7 million models sold in Europe during this time helping the manufacturer achieve global sales to the tune of 2.1 million.<\/p>\n

Since it first went into production in 1976, more than 15 million Fiestas have been bought globally, while last year saw Frozen White emerging as the most popular paint colour among motorists throughout Europe.<\/p>\n

Mr de Waard noted the latest edition of the Fiesta has some big shoes to fill if it is to repeat the successes of its predecessors, but claimed the new version is more than capable of doing so.<\/p>\n

He
stated: "Being acclaimed as Europe's best-loved small car in 2012 is a great achievement and we thank all of our customers."<\/p>\n
