The Citroen DS range has been the subject of a lot of new car deals<\/a> since it was first unveiled and now the French automaker is adding to the line-up with the release of a new sophisticated SUV. The DS 6WR will be launched at this year's Beijing Motor Show, which takes place from April 20th.<\/p>\n

Citroen state the Paris-designed SUV is directly inspired by the Wild Rubis concept car and represents a new approach for the DS, so fans of the hugely popular DS3 may want to take note of the happenings in China next week.<\/p>\n

The aim was to combine unique body lines with the DS design cues and the result is a 4.55m long, 1.86m wide and 1.61m tall beauty, which has a long wheelbase of 2.73m complete with 19-inch rims. With dimensions like these, it's no surprise car buyers can expect space, versatility and dynamics.<\/p>\n

In order to make it comfortable on all types of terrain, Citroen has added Grip Control, which means there is no need for a four-wheel drive system. The designers state this benefits both fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, making the car equally at home on the tarmac as it is on the dirt track.<\/p>\n

Engine options include a e-THP 160 and THP 200, both of which are matched to a 6-speed automatic gearbox and feature sequential direct injection with a high-pressure pump, while there is the addition of a twin scroll type turbocharger.<\/p>\n

Although this car signals a change in DS stylings, Citreon wants it to still be unique and recognisable – to that end, the wide and low body retains a chrome-finished side signature with aluminium bars that accentuate the impression of height and sculpted rear wings.<\/p>\n

There is a new front end identity, which follows on from the updating work carried out on the DS 5LS. The DS Wings – a new grille design that takes its name from the two chrome-finished wings connecting it to the headlamps – look right at home on the car.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
