British production of cars is at its highest for more than ten years, according to the latest figures.<\/p>\n
Data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) shows more than one million cars have been produced in Britain since the start of 2016.<\/p>\n
The last time this was achieved was in 2004 and shows the growing strength of the country’s motor industry.<\/p>\n
In July the number of cars built totalled 125,566 – making the overall number produced for the year so far 1,023,723.<\/p>\n
July also saw a 14 per cent rise in domestic demand for new vehicles, with export levels also strong with almost four out of every five cars finding their home overseas.<\/p>\n
SMMT’s chief executive, Mike Hawes, said: “Future success will depend on continued new car demand and attracting the next wave of investment so Britain must demonstrate it remains competitive and open for business.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
