This time of year is never a good time for those with hay fever, but there are some tips for drivers suffering.<\/p>\n
IAM RoadSmart is warning motorists to be sensible and follow a few basic rules if they are affected by the condition.<\/p>\n
Firstly, keeping the pollen out is a good way to start, so vacuuming carpets, mats and upholstery should reduce levels. Also many cars have a pollen filter, so double-check if it needs changing.<\/p>\n
Even though the weather may be nice, it is advisable to keep windows closed and set your air-conditioning to recycle to help reduce pollen levels.<\/p>\n
If you think you are going to sneeze then slow down or drop back from the vehicle in front, If it is save to stop, then do so rather than risk an accident.<\/p>\n
Lots of hay fever sufferers take medication, but for drivers it is vital to ensure they do not take anything that could may them drowsy behind the wheel. <\/p>\n
Richard Gladman, IAM RoadSmart’s head of driving and riding standards, said: “If you are struggling to see and sneezing as well, you can’t be safe on the road.
