Mazda increases model range

Motorists interested in Mazda deals will be interested to hear that a new 1.6-litre diesel version of the Mazda5 has been added to the range.

According to the manufacturer, the new engine provides customers with a powerful, small-displacement turbo diesel that is efficient, affordable and fun to drive.

Hideki Matsuoka, programme manager Mazda5, said: "For the engine line-up of the New Mazda5, we placed emphasis on environmental performance and fuel economy."

The new 1.6-litre diesel engine is 120kg lighter than its predecessor and therefore contributes to an improved fuel economy and lower fuel consumption.

Engineers at Mazda claim that the new powertrain produces 5PS more than the 2.0-litre diesel engine it has replaced as well as using 14.8 per cent less fuel and producing 13.2 per cent less CO2.

The new Mazda5 also boasts a completely new exterior look and an improved interior, with a new dashboard, steering wheel, centre stack and seats, for an enhanced quality feel.

Mazda recently added a 1.6-litre diesel version to its popular Mazda3 range giving its medium sector car a new year boost with improvements to the power, emissions and fuel economy.
