Kia’s small cars are ‘best buy for losing least’

Drivers looking for value for money have been advised to check out Kia's range of small cars such as the Rio or the Picanto.

Parker's, one of the biggest online car guides, has rated the Kia Picanto top of the list for the lowest depreciation in the first year of ownership with the Kia Rio finishing a close second, losing just £1,247 and £1,642 in the first year.

Both vehicles had a successful year in 2010 as British drivers were attracted by the strong pricing, high levels of specification and the industry-leading seven-year transferrable warranty.

Kieren Puffet, editor at Parkers, said: "A car with low depreciation is great news for its owners especially in these tough economic times. The Kia Picanto and Rio have performed brilliantly thanks to low purchase prices and losing the least amount of money over a year."

Yaser Shabsogh, sales director at Kia Motors UK, said that the manufacturer is very proud of the performance of both the Rio and the Picanto.

He added that in the current economic climate cars that hold their value as the Rio and the Picanto do fit the bill perfectly.
