Vauxhall Astra to receive technology boost

People looking for Vauxhall deals will be interested to hear that the manufacturer is planning to install Panasonic Toughbooks in its new Astra model.

The Toughbook CF-19 is a market-leading, rotating screen, convertible notebook, which has set the benchmark in rugged mobile computing.

Motorists will be able to access W—Fi and 3G broadband through the device enabling users to share information rapidly with staff back at the main office, which the manufacturer believes will be of particular use to the police force.

Dick Ellam, Vauxhall special vehicles manager, said: "The Astra has long-since been a trusted model within the police, which is why we have opted to make this feature available."

He added that the Toughbook system is currently being used by many police forces across the country and is proving to be a revolutionary resource.

The Toughbook fits into a docking station, which is mounted in the glove box of the Astra, can be easily removed and this allows the laptop screen to be viewed in both upright and downward positions.
