Ford to bring efficient Fiesta and Focus models to the UK market

Motorists looking for fuel-efficient Ford deals will be delighted to hear that the car maker is planning to bring ultra-efficient version of its ever popular Fiesta and Focus to the UK in mid-2012.

The move is part of a broader strategy to boost the green technology across the Ford product range under its new ECOnetic Technology badge.

Ford is planning to unveil the new ultra-efficient models at the Frankfurt Motor Show, giving people looking for Ford deals the opportunity to get up close and personal with a range of fuel saving technology.

The new Ford Focus features first lean NOx adsorbing technology in a Ford diesel, achieving emissions of 89 g/km, with the Fiesta ECOnetic Technology delivering emissions of just 87 g/km, thanks to its Auto-Start-Stop technology.

Dr Thilo Seibert, manager of sustainability and electrification strategy, Ford of Europe, said: "The Focus and Fiesta ECOnetic Technology will deliver stunning fuel economy and still be fun to drive – a combination that would have seemed impossible a few years ago."

Ford claims the new Focus will be able to travel 100 kilometres on 3.4 litres of fuel, making it one of the most fuel-efficient non-hybrid family cars in Europe.

"The Focus and Fiesta ECOnetic Technology will deliver stunning fuel economy and still be fun to drive – a combination that would have seemed impossible a few years ago," Dr Seibert added.

Ford is also planning to introduce a new Focus powered by a three-cylinder 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine, which delivers both impressive fuel efficiency and surprising performance due to direct fuel injection and turbocharging.

The three vehicles are part of an aggressive strategy to make leading fuel efficiency and green technologies available to more customers under the Ford ECOnetic Technology badge.

Motorists looking for the latest Ford Focus deals will be interested to hear that the technology packed in the all new model has picked up an award from BusinessCar, with its Driver Assist pack judged by the industry magazine to be well worth its £750 price.
