Ford Mondeo named greenest family car

Those looking for environmentally-friendly Ford deals will be delighted to hear that the Ford Mondeo has been named as the greenest family car at the What Car? Green Awards.

Its fuel consumption figure of 65.6 mpg in the 1.6-litre TDCi model sealed the prestigious accolade, with Chas Hallett, editor in chief of What Car?, praising the car maker's work with the Mondeo range.

"The award-winning 1.6 TDCi is the best green family car, being both a brilliant all-rounder and remarkably eco-friendly with its low CO2 rating of 114g/km," he explained.

Ford's Mondeo is no stranger to prestigious car industry awards as it was named as the best overall family and estate car by What Car? in January, just months after going on sale in the UK.

Sales of both the fuel-sipping 1.6-litre diesel and 1.6-litre petrol EcoBoost are rising since being introduced this year on all Ford large cars – Mondeo, S-MAX and Galaxy – with Auto-Start-Stop as standard.
