Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth had its lights turned on by the 100 per cent electric Nissan LEAF last Monday.
The event was organised by Nissan as part of its The Big Turn On campaign, which aims to raise the British public's awareness of the benefits to the environment low-carbon, electric vehicles can bring.
British rapper and Strictly Come Dancing judge, Alesha Dixon, turned on the lights at the Gunwharf Quays landmark at 9.30pm, before performing a selection of popular songs from her platinum-selling album The Alesha Show.
"The Big Turn On Campaign is one of a number of Nissan initiatives to drive change for a low-carbon, sustainable future," said Nissan's marketing director Steve McLennan.
"We aim to raise awareness of the low-carbon benefits of 100 per cent electric vehicles and to encourage motorists to understand that they can do their bit for the environment without compromising on style and power."
Consumers getting Nissan deals for the LEAF can expect to get around 109 miles on one charge, at a cost of less than 2p per mile.
