Green award for Ford Fiesta Van ECOnetic

A Ford van has been recognised for its environmentally-friendly qualities at the British Insurance Vehicle Security Awards.

The Fiesta Van ECOnetic won the Green Van category at the ceremony – which is organised by Thatcham – and represents the third year in a row that the vehicle has triumphed in this section.

This prize is given to the motor with the lowest CO2 emissions and the Fiesta Van ECOnetic achieved an ultra-low emission of 87 g/km CO2 thanks to its specially-calibrated Duratorq 1.6-litre TDCi engine, low-rolling resistance tyres and lowered suspension.

Anthony Ireson, marketing director at Ford Britain, said the carmaker is thrilled to have cemented its position as top of the green van class.

Mr Ireson stated: "With the new Fiesta Van available in showrooms from early 2013, offering further driver assistance technologies and safety features, we hope to continue our award's success next year."

Peter Shaw, chief executive at Thatcham, noted Ford has proven for three years running that commercial drivers can help the environment without security being compromised.
