New Mazda6 ‘should appeal to company car drivers’

Company car drivers around the UK are likely to be attracted to the new petrol-powered Mazda6 model, it has been suggested.

The manufacturer is promoting the vehicle as an ideal choice for motorists of this type, due to its cost effectiveness and reduced emissions.

It is expected that low mileage, budget-conscious drivers will opt for the new model – which includes SKYACTIV technology – with its low emission of 2-litre 145ps set to spike fleet demand.

Firms on the lookout for the best Mazda deals from a financial perspective might therefore find the Mazda6 is the perfect choice for their drivers.

The vehicle delivers a 17 per cent reduction in CO2, despite a 21 per cent increase in power, 22 per cent rise in miles per gallon and 27 per cent escalation in torque.

Steve Tomlinson, head of fleet at Mazda, noted diesel models make up around 90 per cent of upper medium sector company car sales, due to the fact many drivers are running up high annual mileages.

Mr Tomlinson stated: "However, there is a section of the company car driving population that require an upper medium sector car to meet work or lifestyle requirements but do not drive quite as many miles.

"Consequently, we believe that the all-new petrol-engined Mazda6 offers the perfect choice as employees can enjoy the car's top-notch performance whilst benefiting from tax savings versus competitor models."

Mazdas SKYACTIV technology makes use of a number of different innovations to ensure CO2 emissions are 17 per cent lower than the car's predecessor.

These include developments focused on aerodynamics, powertrains, chassis and transmission improvements and vehicle weight reduction.

Mr Tomlinson claimed the new model looks set to cause a real stir in the upper medium company car field.

The expert observed that while diesel is likely to remain the dominant force in this sector for some time to come, petrol engine models are set to become increasingly favoured, enabling the motors to build up a considerable following.
