Fiat 500L earns safety recognition

Fiat's new 500L has been recognised for its safety achievements by Euro NCAP.

The car, which is to go on sale – and be available for those looking for the latest Fiat deals – in the UK next spring, was given the body's five-star crash safety rating.

It was handed an overall score of 83 out of 100, receiving 94 per cent for adult occupant protection and 78 per cent for child occupant protection.

In addition, the vehicle ranked highly for pedestrian safety and driving assistance safety systems, coming away with marks of 65 per cent and 71 per cent respectively.

Fiat said the results demonstrate the manufacturer's commitment to protecting road users in all different aspects of car safety.

The design boasts a Small Wide architecture style, which was created through thousands of hours of virtual simulations and provides structural strength to improve response uniformity – and ensures the vehicle becomes less 'aggressive' – in the event of a collision.
