Kia is determined to continue with its strong sales performance in the months and years ahead.
This is according to David Ovenden, who was speaking as he joined Kia Motors UK as the new sales director of the manufacturer's head office in Weybridge, Surrey.
Mr Ovenden explained the carmaker has enjoyed plenty of sales success in recent years, with motorists appearing to be making the most of the latest Kia deals as they look to get behind the wheel of one of the brand's celebrated motors.
The 50-year-old stated: "I am delighted to be joining Kia at such an exciting time in the brand's development and very much looking forward to working with the sales team and the dealer network to continue the strong sales record of recent years and helping Kia to reach its ambition of 100,000 cars a year."
His new role will see him reporting to Yaser Shabsogh, commercial director at the company, while taking on the responsibility of overseeing and furthering the achievements of the Kia dealer network.
In control of a sales team comprised of 42 staff members, Mr Ovenden will also be in charge of making sure the firm's various sales channels – such as retail, used car and fleet – are utilised to their full potential.
The new sales director will be required to play a significant role at board level within the company, where he will be expected to make a telling contribution to corporate strategy and growth.
Mr Shabsogh noted Mr Ovenden's appointment will prove of great benefit to Kia. He explained Mr Ovenden will bring a wealth of in-depth knowledge and experience that the sales team – and the manufacturer as a whole – will be able to take advantage of going forward.
The news comes after Kia recently had reason to celebrate upon the release of Diesel Car magazine's annual car of the year issue, with its cee'd Sportswagon named winner of the best estate car category.
