Mazda vehicles perform well in 2013 Which? Car Survey

Mazda has won a number of prizes for its vehicle range at the 2013 Which? Car Survey.

The 2013 Which? Car Survey has given a further clue as to why so many drivers are looking for Mazda deals at the moment.

Achieving an impressive reliability score of 97.4 per cent for models under three years old and 91.1 per cent for older vehicles – the Mazda MX-5 was voted Britain's most reliable new sportscar.

With more than 47,000 readers offering their views, it is hard to argue with the results of the Which? survey.

The magazine said the MX-5 is the "automotive equivalent of a double espresso" and its handling makes other cars feel dull by comparison.

That said, this was not the only car from Mazda's extensive range to win approval from the Which? readership. Indeed, the Mazda3, Mazda6 Estate and Mazda2 models all achieved a reliability score above 90 per cent, which is a glowing endorsement for the car manufacturer's consistency when designing new vehicles.

Which? revealed the Mazda3 costs owners less in repair bills than most other cars that are still within their three-year warranty period.

This is not the first prize-giving ceremony in which the esteemed Japanese car maker has cleaned up this year.

Earlier this month, the Mazda6 scooped the best family car prize at the Auto Express New Car Awards, while the CX-5 sports utility vehicle bagged the best crossover gong for the second year.

Mazda UK managing director Jeremy Thomson thinks these two models are well placed to succeed in future versions of the coveted Which? awards.

He commented: "The 2013 Which? Car Survey findings are a wonderful endorsement of our products and our brand.

"The iconic MX-5 is still winning friends more than two decades after its introduction."

Mazda's impressive performance in the reliability category helped it secure a place in the top ten of the magazine's best car brands of 2013 – finishing joint ninth alongside Volkswagen. The publication considered 31 manufacturers in total.

Which? added: "It looks like you can't go wrong if you buy a new Mazda."
