The Ford Fiesta has picked up yet more awards.
It is one of the rare motors that has proved to be as successful with people looking for new car deals as it is with the journalists who are reviewing it, having established itself as a best-seller in Britain, while picking up endless accolades from the motoring press.
The latest prize is the title of the 2013 Women's World Car of the Year. The Fiesta 1.0-litre EcoBoost was the model singled out for special praise and beat the likes of the the Audi Allroad, Range Rover and Porsche Boxster S.
As well as the main prize, the Fiesta also won the 2013 Women's World Car of the Year Economy Car category, while the 1.0-litre EcoBoost powerplant retained its International Engine of the Year title.
Chief operating officer at Ford of Europe Barb Samardzich said: "The success of the new Fiesta, both in terms of this award and impressive sales, has been achieved with a car which is sharp looking, better connected and even more fuel efficient and fun-to-drive."
The panel at the Women's World Car of the Year consisted of 18 female motoring writers and they were looking at a number of factors including safety, value-for-money, aesthetics, storage and space, child-friendliness, driveability, colour and environmental footprint.
Sandy Myhre, chief executive officer of Women's World Car of the Year, added the new Fiesta 1.0-litre EcoBoost had made a lasting impression on the judging panel and the wider car-buying public. She explained women can often be overlooked by car manufacturers, but this has not been the case with the Fiesta.
Women – and men – looking for new Ford deals will find the Fiesta is a hard package to beat. As well as its Car of the Year awards, it also picked up a maximum five-star safety rating from the independent vehicle safety organisation Euro NCAP.
