Citroen reveals details of the new C1

Citroen is adding to its range of new car deals, unveiling the new C1 at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.

The Citroen C1 is one of Europe's favourite city cars and the French automaker has already sold more than 760,000 models of older iterations since it had its worldwide launch in 2005.

More people are set to be enticed by the latest version of the C1, which will be available in three-door, five-door and a new open-top model.

Some of the more prominent changes include a redesigned front end. Dynamic lines and a pleasing anterior gaze, which is characterised by new headlights, means the car is very eye-catching on the urban roads.

With bi-tone versions and brightly coloured interiors on the options list, the car may be new, but it has the unmistakable playful character and joie de vivre of the Citroen range.

Other refinements have been made with city driving firmly in focus. The car will be agile and nippy, due to its mix of compact design and exceptional suspension. Technology has been added with the purpose of being useful on the road, so Citroen has put a seven-inch Touch Driver Interface and Mirror Screen technology at the fingertips of the driver. This means car buyers will be able to copy and run smartphone apps from the C1's touchscreen.

Extras include the possibility of adding keyless entry and start, as well as a reversing camera and hill-start assist.

A key component of the city car design is economy and low running costs and Citroen has delivered yet again. The car weighs just 840 kg and is available with new-generation sustainable petrol engines.

The e-VTi 68 Airdream engine can be coupled with a five-speed gearbox and gives fuel consumption figures that are on par with best-in-class mpgs.

A further option is the new VTi 82 from the PureTech engine family. This 1.2 litre 3-cylinder 82bhp petrol engine offers fuel consumption of 65mpg and crucially has congestion charge-beating CO2 emissions.
