The Top Gear Kia cee’d retires to new exhibition

The Kia cee'd has been the subject of many new car deals in the UK, especially since the introduction of the company's seven-year warranty, but it is still best known as one of the stars of the hit BBC show Top Gear.

In its role as the Reasonably Priced Car, often referred to by presenter Jeremy Clarkson as the Kia C Apostrophe D, the cee'd appeared in series 15 to 19 and was driven by the likes of Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz, Rowan Atkinson, Matt LeBlanc, Ryan Reynolds, Sienna Miller, Alice Cooper, Chris Evans, will.i.am and John Prescott.

Now it has been moved to Beaulieu's World of Top Gear exhibition.

Its new home is the Enormodrome, which has been designed to recreate the feel of the Top Gear studio, so the Kia car will join features such as the Cool Wall and the Celebrity Lap Times board – both of which will be updated to keep them in line with the most recent episodes of the show.

The exhibition will also feature a scaled-down version of the Dunsfold Park track. Although the famous cee'd will not be up for a few more laps, fans will be able to drive remote-control models of some of the most popular Top Gear challenge cars and even enjoy a ride in the Stig-induced simulator.

When Kia launched its European designed and manufactured cee'd in February 2007, it was the first car from the manufacturer to feature the extended warranty provision that has helped revolutionise both the company's reputation and the industry itself.

This year, when Kia announced the seventh anniversary of the scheme, Paul Philpott, president and chief executive of Kia Motors in the UK, said: "The seven year warranty from Kia was a statement of confidence in our quality and manufacturing back in 2004 and it remains that today with more and more retail customers than ever benefitting from it."
